3D pictures
Hi, I am trying to search this in search engines (yahoo, google, etc) but I cannot find the right answer, I think I am giving the wrong keyword ("Convert pictures to 3D in java"), the result that gives me is Java3D which is use for creating application like AutoCAD. What I am trying to search is converting images into a 3d pictures so when other wear 3D glasses they can see the pictures as 3D.
I hope I explain what I am trying to do here.
I was just thinking in if it is possible in java but clueless where to start.
Thanks,
geje

I think (I have no experience with stereoscopic images) that if you can handle the Java3D framework, the step to stereoscopic images isn't that difficult: generate a 'world' using red shades and generate the same world from a slightly different eye point using green shades and display both worlds on the same screen ...
kind regards,
Jos

Well, The first step of 3d, is layering the image. There are cameras, that determin the focus of an object and layer the image acording to the focus, but the 3d "magic" doesnt stop there, to achieve the effect you get in the movie theater, they use projections that also layer the image, wich gives you 3d. now, the red/greed cheap 3d that there was before imaxe is also dificult to achieve. there are 3 images in that old red/green 3d effect. there was, the regualr image, a r, half scaped image, and a green half scaped image. the positions and layering of the red/green images completely veried on the angle, depth, and contrast the image had compared through the red/green filter lenses on those papery glasses you got along with those movies.

@JosAh and Jcbconway - Thanks for the information, it really helps me a lot and point me to what I have to learn first. I guess I have to work with Java3D first and it might took me a month or less because use my spare time to learn it. But I promise to post updates.
Where can I post the updates? Or can I post it in forum lobby?

Im not sure haha, you have been here longer then i have. a little recommendation from me, is just simply learn the idea befind 3d, regarding java for now, after you understand the concept of 3d, though learning the language behind it will be difficult, you will understand whats being achieved, and the syntax will be made easy then haha (: If you post updates, jsut stick a link on this page, ill get an email, come here and check it out. im cerious, because this topic interests me too.
