Default How do I create chips and hardware coded on java?

    Hello!
I had a friend of my sister who knew how to create hardware chips
    of java code.

Now I'v been wanting to create either a walking small robot, with motors and stuff..

Anyways, I would like to know what to recommend?
Not legomindstorm, Im not a little child..
I would need some sort of moddable device which I could plug in input and output cables to and make motors spin, or a camera to get image from.
    Any idea?
Im totaly new to this subject so I really need some good hints :)

i haven't had time to get one and play with it yet, but I have been thinking something like the beagle board looks pretty interesting.

Where you would need to have the beagle board with an expansion board for the motor cntrols. It boots up a linux-like kind of embedded operating system, but then would be able to run that Jazelle Java VM for ARM architecture, where you could likely have your Java based robot control programming. Might have to do some JNI work and custom linux device drivers for your motor controller hardware.

Have a look at their projects list. There is even one for creating a robot

This is quite intriguing. Please let us know how this works out for you and what kind of monsters you create!

It all starts with innocent intentions, and then ends with running and screaming...

    Beware what you create!

You guys must be watching the wrong movies. Here I'm thinking that the OP will be creating something for the betterment of humanity such as a device that fetches a beer from the fridge for me on command. How can something like that destroy Tokyo?

It will grow to enormous proportions and flatten Tokyo with it's beer-laden tea-tray of DOOM!

...see almost any episode of any incarnation of Power Rangers.
