Hello and welcome to the forum. I hope that your questions get answered but do request a few things from you. First off since you are asking a Java question, I don't think that the "Java Announcements" forum is the proper forum for this, and so I am going to move this thread over to a different, perhaps better forum. Next, you do know of course that you are asking a program to work closer with the OS than Java is comfortable doing, and perhaps Java is not the best language for this task. And finally, while this problem is urgent to you, it's not to us, and marking a thread "urgent" is often one way to induce folks to ignore it as no one likes to feel pressured, least of all volunteers who would be answering your question free of charge and on their own free time.

Again, best of luck and again welcome to the forum.

Java can't do it; you need to use another (external) process for that (Runtime.exec( ... )) or have some C/C++ code available and call it through JNI.

    kind regards,

    Jos

That's right :) You should use native methods for this...

To get started I recommend reading this JNI Guide

The OP's abilities are even greater than that. I count three posters in this thread telling him that Java alone won't solve this. cheers.

Ah yes, I forgot: replies that don't contain the spoonfed solution are simply skipped; maybe we could sing it to the OP and do the secret dance?

    kind regards,

    Jos
