    Default need help in the jndi protion

    hi all,
    wil any body help me in jndi protion
    what the use of jndi in java ,is jndi is used only in webapplication if no then whith a main programe a directory or a file how can i make an interface with the jndi lookup.
    thnaks in advance for the sample code and valuable comments
