It depends what you want: if you want to remove an entire column it pays off to build a new TableModel and pass that to the JTable; if you just want to hide the columns content but show blanks there you have to write your own TableCellRenderer. Read the API documentation for those classes.

Remove the TableColumn from the TableColumnModel. Read the JTable API for the method to get the TableColumnModel.how to hide a jtable column
