JAVA Video Extraction
This is my first time at these forums. I've scoured the internet looking for a solution to my problem, yet I can find none. Hopefully someone may be able to help me.
I need to write a feature that requires some video manipulation. I need a video file as an input (avi, mpeg, etc..) and I would like to extract all frames/frames per a specified rate and turn them into images. I've been searching for ways to do this and have failed. I'm not very experienced with media manipulation. I've read about the JMF, but it seems that is useful for capturing live video, rather than manipulating a video file.
If anyone could help me, or point me in the right direction/forum, I'd really appreciate it.
(The program utilizing this new feature has to remain very small in terms of disk space, therefore I cant use heavyweight libraries (Not that I've found any...))
have you looked into the Java Media Framework?
java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/media/jmf/]Java SE Desktop Technologies - Java Media Framework API (JMF)
I've looked into the JMF, and for the amount of time that I invested in it, I could not find what I was looking for. Perhaps the JMF does hold the solution though. In the mean time, I'll look for a JMF forum, and ask there. I've read through some of the API, but couldn't find what I was looking for. (Granted, reading through an API without knowing exactly what you're looking for isn't the best way to search).
Do you read about screen capture in Java. AWT package have a class name Robot for that.
