Sorry, I should have posted the solution. I asked in so many forums that I forgot someones....
The trick is you have to stop and deallocate every player. I was nulling player without deallocating it and apparently it is a problem for the handset I was working on.
I don't have the cellphone right now to tell you about the firmware. I'm pretty sure it was a prototype, but this bug happened in a "java verify" test performed by nokia also, i think it is a s40 bug.
