Hi, Does anybody know anything about writing java Midlets for mobile phones?

I'm wondering if it's possible to write an app which can browse the directories on the phone's memory and also on a transflash card in the phone then copy and paste files, rename folders etc? Kinda like a mini windows explorer but without any frilly bits

Perhaps it's already been done... if so could you let me know where I might find a compiled version of the Application. Or maybe Java does not have permission to probe the phone's storage device in this way?

I basically need an app which can copy files from the transflash onto the phone's storage device (for user's who do not own a datcable for transferring files to the phone's storage - including myself).
